Why You Need a Catch Can

Modern diesel engines are fitted with EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) systems that reroute some exhaust gases back into the intake system. When oil vapour from the crankcase ventilation system mixes with these exhaust particles, it forms sludge that builds up on the intake valves and manifold.

This contamination can lead to:
